The Democratic National Committee is using CTA offices near the United Center that are sublet from developer Scott Goodman, whose company has stiffed the CTA and Cook County for more than $2 million in rent and property taxes.
The event’s debut last year was marred by torrential rain that canceled concerts and cut short the Xfinity and Cup Series races. This year, NBC expects to put on the full show it was unable to then.
Some small business owners said they plan to close during the two-day event, but others are excited about the race and the boost in pedestrian traffic that could bring more sales.
The incident occurred during the Critical Mass group bike ride, a monthly event where cyclists meet at Daley Plaza on the last Friday of every month and ride throughout the city.
