On a night focused on President Joe Biden passing the torch to Harris, some of Illinois’ top political stars also took center stage on Monday to kick off the four-day convention.
Thomas Nides, former U.S. ambassador to Israel, said the vice president has worked in lockstep with President Joe Biden since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks in southern Israel.
“Uncommitted” Democratic delegates are trying to convince the DNC to allow Palestinian Americans onto the convention’s main stage.
The featured speaker of the evening will be President Biden, of course, but plenty of people will precede him on stage, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.
