Two cars crashed on Interstate 57 near 111th Street and someone fired shots, police said.
Two counts of excessive force would be withdrawn because ballistics results could take up to a year or more to complete, slowing down progress on litigation, according to the court document.
State police responded to reports of a crash in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 107th Street about 7:17 p.m. Monday and found a child dead, police said. Others in the car were hospitalized.
Shealyn M. Sherwood, of Hoffman Estates, and Erik C. Cox, of Rolling Meadows, were killed in the wreck in the outbound lanes near Damen Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
